About us
Established in 2002, Harambee A Cappella is a community vocal group based in Melbourne, Australia formed by a diverse group of young adults who all share a love of singing! The name "Harambee" (pronounced ha-rum-bay) means "in the spirit of togetherness" in Swahili.
Harambee A Cappella performs a variety of contemporary a cappella music throughout the year for community events and competitions, family and friends, as well as corporate and other paid performances.

We need your help!
Help us make our dreams come true! Hot off the heels of winning our category at the 2024 World Choir Games, we’re looking to dive right into our next international competition!
We’re excited to announce Harambee is headed to Singapore in July for their 2026 @International Choralfest !! But, we need YOUR help to get there!
We are asking for donations of any amount (nothing is too small!) to offset our festival registration, travel and accommodation costs. We are a community group with limited funding so any help is greatly appreciated!

✦What People Are Saying✦
“Your presence added an extra layer of beauty to [our daughter’s wedding], making it an unforgettable experience. The professionalism, impeccable timing and flawless harmonies demonstrated by each member of Harambee A Cappella captivated the hearts of all our 200+ guests. Together with friends and family, we are all still reminiscing about the personal and uplifting atmosphere you created.
We would like to acknowledge the exceptional talent of the Musical Director Daniel Kim for expertly arranging a deeply sentimental piece together with a contemporary song chosen by my daughter, providing the perfect accompaniment during the processional – evoking tears of happiness from everyone in the room. […]
We would wholeheartedly recommend Harambee A Cappella to anyone seeking an exceptional musical experience for their special occasion. Thank you once again for making our daughter's wedding ceremony truly unforgettable.”
— Kate Underhill & Dr. Brad Underhill
“During a break at our meeting, we were entertained beautifully by Harambee A Cappella. The set of Bad Day, Here Comes the Sun, What a Wonderful World and Pure Imagination was well chosen for our theme of "Imagine Rotary" and performed with excellent musicality and energy. Everyone I spoke with after the performance was impressed and highly appreciative. I have no hesitation in recommending Harambee A Cappella for future Rotary events.”
— Rohan Williams, Rotary Central Melbourne
“Outstanding singing all round. Both pieces showed great energy, attention to phrasing and balance of parts. The transitions and changes of character between sections were executed especially well. Best sense of ensemble of the night.”
— boroondara Eisteddfod adjudicators
“Harambee A Cappella were a real highlight of our concert. All their members were incredibly friendly and professional at all times to event staff, other performers and the audience. Their beautiful and powerful arrangements take your breath away, give you chills and warm your heart all at the same time. Their performance was first-class, beautiful and we would book them again in a heartbeat. The audience absolutely fell in love with them too. The choir were an absolute pleasure to work with, both in the lead up to the event and on the night. Communication was always pleasant, fast and nothing was ever a problem. We can’t wait to invite them to perform at more of our events soon!”
— Will Anderson, The City of Yarra
“Harambee! I love you guys, so fun, so full of energy and passion for the music.”
